WILMINGTON, North Carolina – After securing a victory over Wingate in its lone exhibition, the UNCW women’s basketball team sets its sights on the regular season, which begins on Wednesday, Nov. 10, with a visit from NCAA Division II opponent Mount Olive.

The Seahawks and Trojans rekindle their regular season series for the fourth time inside Trask Coliseum with a 7 p.m. contest. Wednesday’s game will be carried online via FloHoops (subscription required) with John Smist and Tom Lamont calling the action along with sideline reports from Marianna Pinto.

In addition, the game can be heard in the Wilmington area on 95.9 The Breeze with a simulcast of the FloHoops broadcast, while live stats will be available at UNCWStats.com.

Wednesday’s game, which counts in the regular season record for UNCW and serves as an exhibition for Mount Olive, will also serve as Military Appreciation Night. Fans can receive a free mini flag courtesy of the UNCW Office of Military Affairs and a large flag donated by All-Star Flags will be unfurled during the National Anthem.

UNCW, which authored a 7-14 record last year, used double-digit scoring efforts from four players to claim a 66-54 victory over Wingate in the exhibition tilt on Oct. 29. Graduate student guard Sierra DaCosta led all players with 20 points after knocking down 8-of-13 shots from the floor, including a 5-for-8 effort from beyond the arc.

Redshirt senior guard Dazia Powell added 16 points off the bench by going 6-for-9 from the floor, while sophomore guard Mary McMillan and Micah Hoggatt each chipped in 10 points.

Mount Olive, which finished last season at 7-7, dropped an 82-68 verdict in its first exhibition at High Point last Friday. The Trojans had four players reach double figures, including 22 points from senior forward Ivanda Hudjakova on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. Junior forward Laila Harris contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
