Who’s Playing

Radford @ Furman

Current Records: Radford 1-2; Furman 2-1

What to Know

After two games on the road, the Furman Paladins are heading back home. They will take on the Radford Highlanders at 7 p.m. ET Friday at Timmons Arena. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Furman was within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Monday as they fell 95-89 to the Belmont Bruins.

Meanwhile, the oddsmakers predicted a rough game for Radford on Monday, and boy were they were right. They suffered a grim 65-39 defeat to the Virginia Tech Hokies. Forward Rashun Williams wasn’t much of a difference maker for the Highlanders; Williams played for 26 minutes but put up just eight points on 3-for-10 shooting.

Furman is the favorite in this one, with an expected 15.5-point margin of victory. Those brave souls putting their money on Radford against the spread have faith in an upset since their team’s 0-2 record ATS can’t hold a candle to Furman’s 2-0.

The losses put Furman at 2-1 and Radford at a reciprocal 1-2. A pair of offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Paladins come into the matchup boasting the fifth most points per game in college basketball at 95.7. On the other end of the spectrum, the Highlanders are stumbling into the matchup with the 11th fewest points per game in college basketball, having accrued only 58.3 on average. So the cards are definitely stacked against Radford.
